Cardiff, UK — SURE CHILL is delighted to announce that they have been selected as one of just 44 inaugural members of the Million Lives Club, a global initiative designed to recognise innovators and social entrepreneurs and celebrate their impact in improving the lives of those living on less than US $5 a day. As a Vanguard member, Sure Chill have already impacted over one million of these lives globally to date.

Sure Chill is a patented breakthrough cooling technology which enables continuous cooling from inconsistent power. Initially developed to protect lifesaving, temperature-sensitive vaccines in emerging countries where access to consistent and reliable power supplies are rare, this unique cooling technology can be scaled from domestic refrigerator to shipping container to warehouse, providing accurate cooling and the potential to time shift energy use across all cooling sectors.

Nigel Saunders, CEO, said “We are truly honoured to be recognised by the Million Lives Club for the impact that our technology has made and the enormous and disruptive impact it will continue to make. Cooling is a foundation of modern society, wherever you are in the world – from keeping food and vaccines cool to even keeping our data centres functioning. Unfortunately, though, many methods available for cooling are not fit for today’s world. Sure Chill is fundamentally a big idea which can improve lives for billions in developing countries whilst also helping people and businesses in developed countries to time-shift energy and reduce energy costs.”

Inspired by the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA) and the Rockefeller Foundation, Million Lives Vanguard members were unveiled at the SOCAP 19 meeting in San Francisco on the 22nd October after a meeting of the inaugural members at the OECD Conference in Paris. The focus is on those scaling and making a significant impact in addressing global development challenges, and continuing to enable their growth and there expand their impact.

Funded by such organisations as the UK’s Department for International Development, USAid and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Million Lives Club believes that collectively highlighting successful social innovators will act as a powerful platform to encourage the uptake and scaling of innovations for global good, everywhere.
